  • Lifehouse - Everything Skit

During my last CF meeting, I had a chance to watch this video. I won't try to describe what is the video about, just watch it for yourself.

Please do spend 5 minutes of your time and watch this video till the end. It is just a beautiful, wonderful and awesome video (period). Honestly, the first time I watched it, it moved me to tears.

The song in the background is Everything by Lighthouse. If you want the song and the movie, just buzz me, I'll send em to you.

Praise the Lord for His never failing love for us!

  • Finally the internet is here at my place. Can't believe how long we had to wait for it. We applied for the line since last November. The line came 1 month later, but internet was no where to be found. Even after phoning up and going to KLCC several times, we still can't get them to fix it! So we went to KLCC last week to complain. The Maxis personal promised that the techies would come yesterday to fix it. As expected with Maxis' service, they never did. Outraged, we again drove to KLCC after our class. This time, we dressed formal and look seriously angry and discontented. Who knows, that might work ;) ... and it did! The Maxis guy promised that it will be installed tomorrow. But, VERY SURPRISINGLY, they came today, 1 hour ago. hehe.

So convenient having internet at home. No need to drive to campus specifically to use the internet. Those days are gone! =) So I guess I can now update my blog more often =D

To all gamers out there, check out the new and soon going to be released game ~ Tom Clancy's Ends Wars. Really cool game, can't wait for it. :) Check out the trailer:

The developers promised that the graphics in the game will be exactly what it is in the trailer. Lets see whether they keep their word. ;)

  • back to uni

3 weeks of total freedom have come to an end. its back to uni...and the same old same old routine. First week is usually the 'honeymoon week'..not many classes..loads of free time =)

Got my first assignment yesterday. Such a mind boggling assignment even on the first day. =/ Ohh well...only got to pass it up in April. haha.

Counting down the weeks to my summer break in May. 4 MONTHS break to be exact. =D Ahh, can't wait for that. Hoping time will pass faster this semester. hehe

  • malacca trotting

Alex and Keh Vin came to Malacca the other day for a 3 day visit. =) Marcus and I played host and brought em around all the tourist traps in Malacca....the usual places, A farmosa and all the other historical places. I was equally excited as them coz Marcus and I got to eat food that I've not eaten in ages; food like satay celup, chicken rice ball, cendol, Portuguese seafood and dim sum! I really brushed up my tour guide skills during the 3 days. hehe.

ahh..dim sum. long time no eat. this breakfast cost us more than our chicken ball rice lunch! :/

We had a blast going to all those tourist places....really put my knowledge of malacca to the test coz Marcus and I will have to explain everything we came across. hehe. We'll i didn't pass the test thought..shameful to be a malaccan.
Oso brought 'em to the new Carrefour. I was just as curious as them as that was my FIRST time there too. haha. Well, there's nothing to shout about really...nothing impressive. Went to carrefour to shop for stuff for the picnic at Sagil, just at the foot of Gunung Ledang. Grabbed lots of snacks...scared we die of starvation there. lol. Marcus suddenly had an idea of buying a 8kg watermelon for the trip. haha. This picnic is becoming more extravagant. ;)
Drove to Sagil the following day. Didn't really know what the expect. Heard from some ppl that the water there is not clean anymore.. so fingers were crossed :/ Best thing was there was virtually NO one there!! We had the whole place to ourselves. :D

our picnic site. water was surprisingly clear...and extremely cold!

Marcus and his fire-starting skills. Without him, d 4 of us will be going hungry. We were always on the lookout for park rangers..coz we're actually NOT allowed to start a fire. We thought we'll have only little smoke. Gosh were we wrong... The whole place was smoky...surely someone knew there was a fire going somewhere......Thank God nothing happened =D

    <
ahh..the real flame-grilled marinated chicken. didn't expect it to taste that nice, but woah....it was better than what we did on the stove. kudos to marcus' marinating skills. hehe. wasted 1 piece of chicken and 3 sausages....all of 'em fell into the fire. haih

we went waterfall trotting upstream...current was very very strong plus the super slippery rocks. had a few cuts and bruises here and there.

soaked the watermelon in the water to cool it down..boy, was it cold. grr...
almost ended up playing water polo using the 8kg watermelon. lol

Marcus had an interesting way of getting his watermelon open. hehe.

barbaric way of eating..using a swissarmy knife. kehvin just used his hands. it was sweet... wondering whether it had anything to do with us soaking it in mountain water.

Later that evening we went to portuguese settlement to have dinner. Dinner was a bomb! Gosh..didn't know it was such a rip-off. Lesson learnt....don't go there for food again.
Was dead tired after 3 days...got to prepare for CF camp the following day too. Will update about the camp later ;) It was great!

  • Do forgive me for my tardiness in updating this blog...it has been a loooong time. I thought I could update it campus, I was wrong. Internet there is slower than an old tortoise...it took me a full 3 minutes to load google homepage. So, updating pictures and stuff is totally out of the question. haha.

Finally, holidays are here..what joy =) Some well deserved holiday i think....considering we had only 3 DAYS for a semester break last year. The day before our last chemistry paper, we were counting down the hours to go. Tired as we may be, we mustered every ounce of self-motivation we had left in us to pull through the last paper and the agony of exams (actually not so dramatic la). We were just enjoying ourselves doing 'groupstudy' at my place

    group study

typical group study...mess up d whole place first, clear up later

    dsc00047

kam heng zonked out after organic chem.....understanable ;)

    hamster

    ...what has she been studying??

Headed down to chill in KLCC immediately after the last paper. Had a blast there with alex, ashvin and malcom. Got MPO tickets and watched AVP2, which was a total disaster. It was mindless killing and gore without a storyline. For those of you who haven watched it, don't even consider it. Take it from me, better spend your money on anything else other than that. Heard from Joe that Cloverfield and In the Name of The King is also not worth watching.....wanna know why, ask him. Went to my lair in low yat later on..haha. Alex was looongging for the McD prosperity burger. I dunno why he craves for it. So we head on to McDs and whoww..it was good. =D Love 'em twister fries. :)

So 2 semesters have passed and what was the most valuable thing I've learnt thus far? - honour God and He will honour you. :) God is truely great has He has been good to me these few months. :)

Can't wait for tomorrow!! Keh Vin and Alex will be heading down to malacca. Marcus and myself will be playing host this time ;) Going to have a blast these few days..haha.

    So here's what coming up:
    1. Picnic at Sagil waterfall!! oh yeah...
    2. CF camp this weekend..can't wait for that either. For those who haven signed up yet, its still NOT too late! So come come ! =) Promise ya it will be fun. If not, i'll give you the full refund!
    3. CNY .. duh. Do i hear spring cleaning??! :(
    4. Battlestar Galactica marathon with Alex
    5. MPO...Gustav; The Planets
    6. Wanna go stay at the Tune Hotel; find out what the hype was all about.
    7. Planning KK trip! Alex, you still game for climbing??

Will post pics on KehVin and Alex's Malacca visit soon!

  • secondary school memories

I really miss secondary school life. Its an experience that you won't get anywhere else...ever. I'm so glad I took tons of photos back in school. Most of the time, I annoyed my friends by shooting countless photos of them at every given opportunity. haha. Some teachers also got irritated when I used the camera during their lessons...all for a good cause I can assure you. =)  hehe. They would try their best to avoid being 'captured'. Grr...its a tough game of hide and seek.

My poor little camera had endured its share of 'suffering' due to my rough handling of it and constant drops. Most of the time I don't use a camera casing...i would just put it in my pocket. But supprisingly, its still in working order! haha. I just love it. It has served me well! =)

I've compiled the school photos and uploaded them to webshots.  Ex-4H and 5H students, you might want to check 'em out coz most probably your photo will be there too. haha. I've currently uploaded only a few photos. I'll upload more of them little by little when I've the time.

    The photo album:

    Image hosted by Webshots.com

Here's a photo slideshow I did.  Sorry, I know it doesn't do any justice to what we'd experienced and gone through over the years in school. Its kinda hard to fit everything in. haha.

a day in the chemistry lab - making soap. who could ever forget Mdm. Hoh...

  • 3 days in paradise

Ooh..redang island. The white powerdy sand beneath our feet complemented by windswept palms and sapphire blue/turqois warm water made us go ....... WOW! Being there we can't help but admire and be struck with awe by the wonderful creations of God.

We planned this trip for sometime now, ever since i was in form 1. haha. serious =) But for the past 4 years, this trip has been postponed time and time again. Finally, this year we're actually going there...the four of us plus my aunt. =)

Rushed to Jusco to do some last minute shopping which includes extra snorkels and masks. We were looking for fins but we couldn't find any good ones. Oh well..forget the fins. =) Called up Midvalley to check whether they sold the items. Of course they did...but we couldn't make it there coz we were out of time. We had to leave for KL.

My dad decided to drive there instead of taking the coach. What an experience that was. 5 adults in one car...3 of us cramped in the back seat. Ouch. We left at on saturday night at 11.30pm from my aunt's place in KL...and it took us almost 9 hours to reach Merang Jetty (in Kuala Terengganu). Couldn't sleep at all in the car throughout the entire night..it was just too cramp and cold. haha.

On the way there, we made countless stops at ..... Petronas stations. They were everywhere! OHh...thank God for Petronas stations. There was one station which is so huge, it looked like a supermarket. haha. Good for us. We kept stopping to use the restrooms, buy snacks, and of course, to stretch ourselves. =) Poor dad didn't sleep the whole night.

The first hickup of the entire trip....

We arrived at Merang Jetty at 9.30am, precisely when we were supposed to arrive. When we got there, we phoned a guy as he was supposed to meet up with us. HOWEVER, we got to know that we were in the WRONG jetty!! What?! At that time I felt like killing the travel agent who asked us to come here. We were supposed to go to Shahbandar Jetty, another jetty in KT.

We couldn't get to Redang. Unless of course we rented our own boat for RM400. =/ Thank God, there was this great guy, Fauzi, who offered to take us to Redang Island with another group of island goers. After making some calls and arrangements, we were off to Redang. Phew...everyone was relieved. Thank you Fauzi!! =)

    dsc00466

bye bye malaysia and hello redang! oh wait, redang is in malaysia...haha

    dsc00470

on the way there. long way more to go.

reaching the resort. the boat was stopping at several places before our resort. some passengers  disembarked at this resort in the background (Wisana Resort)

white sand meets the turqois sea

need i say anything more? haha. can clearly see the white sea bed. and no, the picture wasn't edited at all..natural turqois colour =D

yay...finally our resort! the one on the left.

Our speed boat took 40 minutes to get to this island 40km from the mainland. The weather was great...to everyone's relief. When we arrived on the island........ we couldn't believe our eyes. The water was stellar! You could see the bottom and all the fishes when we were on the boat. =)

The speed boat took us directly infront of our resort....but it was a water landing; it was slightly above knee deep. Fortunately, the hotel staff were kind enough to help us get our luggage from the boat. =)

Our resort! We didn't stay in chalet though. This is the suite unit. haha

Family pic! =) Overlooking Tanjung Tengah and Shark's Bay

View of pasir panjang beech. Volleyball anyone?

View from our resort restaurant. Wonder what will happen in event of a tsunami....hmm

So later that day we headed off for the marine park south of the island for a snorkeling session. I had never seen so many fishes in my life. haha. There were schools of fishes swimming all around you...damsel fish, needlefish, batfish, and ikan billlis to name a few. The corals there were beautiful. This is my first time seeing the multicoloured corals. I can't really describe it...one got to see it to comprehend its beauty. =) We snorkeled there around 1 hour or so before boarding the boat back to the resort.

fishy fishes - a group of damsel fish

The marine park was packed with people

On the way back, everyone was tired exhausted...but then suddenly, someone shouted...TURTLE! Everyone rushed to the left side of the boat ( the boat really tilted on its side) to catch a glimps of the green turtle. It was virtually gliding on the water surface. Its such a graceful creature. =) Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get a pic of it. =(

Sis and i after snorkeling..wet, salty, tired and happy =)

Later that evening, we went on a fishing trip! Since the night was free and easy in our schedule, we decided to rent a fishing boat and join a group of fishermen for night sotong fishing. cool. =D  We left at 6.30 pm and the boat took us to a location quite far from the island. There they set up the fishing lines. The sea then was very very choppy. The boat would roll from left to right and right to left and left....you get the idea. =/ It was really bad till we could hardly stand up coz we couldn't balance ourselves. haha.

1 hour on...we still couldn't get any sotongs...haiz. According to the fisherman, the strong sea currents were the cause of our disappointment. Mom couldn't take it anymore and she vomitted into the sea. My aunt followed her soon. That's when we decided to call it a day and headed back for shore, without any sotongs. Had we caught some, the hotel would have bbq-ed them for us. haha.

Next day, nothing much happened..we were snorkeling the whole day. During the last snorkeling trip of the day, they took us to a deep location. That's not all. The currents there were very strong. We were happily snorkelling and when we lifted up our heads, we noticed that we were far far away from the boat. Swimming back to the boat against the current was a real chore. Many of them paddled and paddled, but ended up going the opposite way. haha. Fortunately for the non-swimmers, there was a long rope extended from the boat. Most of us grapped on to it. After that, many stayed on the boat, refusing to even enter the water. haha

We slept early that night as we wanted to wake up early at 6am for sunrise the next morning......

...........and sunrise was worth every second of our deprived sleep. =)

Sis waddling her feet before sunrise

    gentle, soothing azure

    its coming...its coming!

the great ball of fire! - peaking out between the clouds

magnificent sunrise - an event not to be missed if you're visiting redang ;)

We left Redang Island that afternoon with a very heart. Before we checked out of the resort, we had another opportunity to snorkel at the house reef nearby the resort. We saw a lot of bawal putih, groupers, sea anemones, parrot fish and clown fish.

On the boat back to the mainland, we were fortunate enough to spot another green turtle! =)

We're hoping to come back to redang one day. The sooner the better because the corals there are deteriorating fast, thanks to some irresponsible visitors; stepping on the corals and polluting the sea.

Got to see as much as possible before they are all gone. haha. Hoping to get a Scuba licence the during the next trip. =)

p.s. - if you're going to Redang Island anytime soon, be sure to bring SUNBLOCKS. A poor japanese guy who snorkeled without tshirt and sunblock sustained severe sunburns...till he can't put his shirt on coz its painful. Its that bad. Fortunately we brought ours.... =D

  • Holidays...

Finally..my second post. It has been almost a year since i updated my blog..yeap a year. Just couldn't think of anything to write. When i finally decide to update it...its always the same story; i would stare my computer screen for 10 mins or so....and nothing gets typed.

So the school holidays just ended. This time around....the holiday was awesome! =) First week my family and I went to Frasers Hill for church camp and on the second week we went to Redang..(really really nice place). From the highlands to the seaside and UNDER the sea in two weeks. haha. Really enjoyable and exhausting. After Redang....i slept almost a day in my aunt's hse in KL.

We went for church camp one day late...coz we had to be in KL to meet up with my cousin and her husband from Australia and we had to attend a wedding ceremony plus dinner that night. I was really excited to meet up with 'em since it has been almost 3 yrs I met them. And of course..i couldn't wait to meet up with my NEW nieces..whom i haven't seen. I'm an uncle! .. makes me sound so old =P

This is Alysha (d smaller one)..she's juz adorable. notice how she stares. She would stare at you for up to 10 mintues like that; and straight in your eyes....haha. She's also fond of prawns. She would take my hand and ask me to go with her to see the prawns in the restaurant aquarium. Wonder what's so facinating bout 'em.

Later that night, my parents left for another wedding dinner near One Utama.

The next morning we woke up early and left for Frasers!

    CHURCH CAMP 2007 (FRASER'S HILL)

Ok..so we woke up early so we could reach Frasers by 9am to join the first sermon of the day. Who would have thought we only reached there at 12 something....due to 'unforseen circumstances'. It was only a 2 hours journey from KL to Frasers, but it took us well over 4 hours to get there. haha.

    We got lost.

From Tanjung Malim we were supposed to go Kuala Kubu Bahru and we were on the lookout for signboards. I'm not too sure what happened, but we ended going up north heading towards Ipoh instead! In the end, we conceded stopping at a police station.

My dad - "Tuan (police guy), nak report kita sesat jalan. Jalan ke Kuala Kubu Baru kat mana? dah terlepas?"  =D

That's when we found out we missed the turning by almost 40km. haha. Ok..so were're back on track to Frasers. We're rushing now. On the way uphill, we spotted a very scenic lake and decided to stop so we could take some photos. Another delay.........

    Man made lake?

When we were about to leave that place I found out that I lost my camera lens cap. =( So we had to retrace our tracks to find it. That took us another 15 minutes. Finally I found it! Where? In my BAG in the CAR! Arghhh...really frustrated.

We finally arrived in time for lunch. We then joined the group to the Jeriau Waterfalls. Although the air there is not really cold..the water is very cold; and i mean freezing cold. haha.. One can't get used to it at all even being in the water for a few minutes.

We had a good game of volleyball there....in the water =). No net? Not a problem...we had people (most of them fearful) standing in one line for a net.

    Introducing the human net!

Dinner was especially good because most of us were still cold after the trip to the falls. Gobbled up as much as I can. haha. Our camp speaker was Paster Lawrence from KL. His sermons were good; simple and concise. The Yok Bin boys in our Tchoukball team were also there. As they were chinese educated, Paster Lawrence actually spoke to them specifically in mandrin...very fluent mandrin. =)

Later that night, the youths played a few games...namely, telephone charades, chicken egg and dinosaur, caterpillar, and of course mafia! This went on the entire night and morning.....I think they slept at 5 something. I don't know...I knocked out at 1.30. And for the first time, Zeph actually slept LATER than me. haha. Proof that it was really fun. haha.

Next morning, I got up early for bird watching. My family and I went with Uncle Chee Chiang and wife, Uncle Matthew and Aunty Lee Yen. We managed to see a few birds when we walked along the road. Then we decided to detour into the jungle in hope to find more unique birds. Well, all we saw was .......... leeches. It was a 1km jungle trek. We weren't so much bird-watching; rather we were leech-watching. haha.  Everyone was relieved when we finally completed the trek. =)

All in all, this year's church camp was simply great! Eventhough I was there a day late, we had great fellowship, fun games and of course...good worship and spiritual food. Looking forward to camp next year!! (heard that it was gonna be in Penang ;)

  • Ok, I've finally decided to start a blog of my own. Supprised? Well, honestly speaking, I had to ponder days on end regarding this issue (not till the extend of sleepless nights). =) I guess it's good to keep an account of my daily life somewhere....before it fades with my memory as age catches up =P Nonetheless, its my last year in school, and it will be good if i can jott down the last few months of my bitter sweet (more of sweet, i think) schooling life. The thing that bothers me the most is how to maintain my blog, especially in these last critical months before my SPM examinations. Starting a blog is one thing, maintaining one is another challenge altogether. Oh well, i guess i have to manage my time well...and perhaps that will ease the blogging challenge, I hope. Of course, saying that is easy, but when faced with the ever demanding time management of a form 5 student, I'm not too sure whether i'm up for it.  That's just me. I don't speak for all the form 5 students. But hey, in form 5, there isn't exactly much time to manage, agree??
